Fall Driving Safety Tips

As the fall season approaches, it is important to be mindful of the unique driving challenges that come with this time of year. The changing weather conditions and shorter daylight hours can make driving more hazardous. To ensure your safety and the safety of others on the road, we would like to share some important safety tips for fall driving:

1. Keep your windshield clean and clear to maximize visibility, especially with the increased likelihood of foggy mornings and wet leaves on the road.

2.Check your tire pressure regularly, as cooler temperatures can cause tire pressure to drop.

3. Slow down and maintain a safe following distance, as wet leaves can make the road slippery.

4. Use your headlights during dusk and dawn to enhance visibility.

5. Watch out for school buses and children, as the school year is in full swing.

Also, during the fall months, deer activity tends to increase, and they are more likely to be found near roadways. This can pose a significant risk to drivers, as collisions with deer can result in serious accidents and injuries.

To ensure your safety and the safety of others on the road, I would like to share some helpful tips:

  • Pay attention to deer crossing signs and reduce your speed accordingly.
  • Use your high beams when driving at night, as they can help you spot deer from a greater distance.
  • If you see a deer on or near the road, slow down and honk your horn to try to scare it away.
  • Do not swerve to avoid hitting a deer, as this can lead to more dangerous accidents. Instead, brake firmly and stay in your lane.
  • By following these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of a deer-related accident. Remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Stay safe and have a wonderful fall season!
